Specialist Training Year 3 Doctors (ST3)

Cornishway Group Practice is a recognised training practice, which means that doctors who are looking to acquire the specialist skills of a general practitioner (GP) can be seconded to this practice. Training practices undergo regular rigorous assessment which may involve the assessing doctors reviewing your records. They are bound by the same confidentiality rules as the Partners.

ST3 doctors (Registrars) have passed their medical exams and are registered with the General Medical Council. They will have worked for a minimum of three years in hospital and spend 12 months working with us (usually starting in August each year). The benefits to patients come through the input of fresh ideas from these doctors to the practice and from the knowledge that your resident GPs are active in current medical and treatment developments.

At the end of the year of their training the doctor has to be certified as fit to practice as a GP and they take specialty general practice exams in the same way that hospital doctors take exams to become specialists.

The GP Trainers in the practice are:   Dr Sarah Postlewhite,  Dr Geeta Wadhwa  & Dr Oliver Atkinson

Foundation Year Doctors (FY2)

Foundation Year 2 doctors have been qualified for 12 months (FY1) and may spend 2 years in the practice as part of their general training.

We have one FY2 doctor in the practice

Medical Students

The practice also supervises 3rd/4th/5th medical students who attend the practice one day a week. They sit in with one of the GPs during surgery to observe and learn the skills necessary to become a doctor. If you do not wish the students to be present during your consultation please inform the receptionist.

Medical students are supervised by Dr Iles
